We are a winning racehorse syndicate based with trainers Karl Burke and Rebecca Menzies.
We also have a range of other share packages including leasing available, we are confident that we can sort out a package to suit all budgets.
The Racing Club
10 years ago we fulfilled a life long ambition and bought a share of a racehorse, we have been involved in several horses since and quite a few of them have been winning ones. Our most memorable day was a cold October Monday when AP McCoy steered Ever Special to victory. It was our first ever winner and although it was only a selling hurdle at Leicester it felt like Cheltenham on Gold Cup day to us.
It was a feeling we have been lucky enough to repeat with horses such as Sonic Anthem, Prigsnov Dancer, Strabinios King, Sheer Fantastic, Faraway Sound, Valantino Oyster, Lord Lansing and more recently Eva Clare and Fidelma Moon, this is a feeling we look forward to experiencing many more times in the future.
Karl Burke rode his first winner for Alan Jarvis in an apprentice race at Hamilton on The Britisher. Always likely to be too heavy for the Flat he switched codes to jump racing, and went on to gain 50 winners from 750 rides. The first being Bloemfontein for M Chapman at Newton Abbot.
Karl’s career in racing took a new direction as his interests turned to training. Karl and Elaine set up a livery and pre-training yard in Newark where they broke young stock in. It was here they started training a small string of both flat and jump horses.
As the string of horses increased Karl made the decision to move to Ginge in 1990 where he enjoyed further success with horses such as Philistar and Daring Destiny winner of the Ayr Gold Cup, a Group 2 in Germany and a Group 3 in Ireland. Karl’s profile as a trainer continued to grow and in 1998 he moved to High Havens Stables on Hamilton Road in Newmarket. In 2000 Karl and his family bought Spigot Lodge in idyllic North Yorkshire. Spigot Lodge is ideally situated between the famous Middleham High and Low moor gallops, and is one of the best equipped horseracing stables in the North of England. Karl has now trained here for over eleven years and has enjoyed the biggest success of his career with Lord Shanakill won the Group 2 Mill Reef stakes at Newbury (G2) before being beaten by only a short head in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket. He then followed this up by winning a Group 1 with him in Chantilly.
Rebecca (Becky) Menzies is at the forefront of a new generation of racehorse trainers and is certainly making a name for herself since she moved to her new home at Howe Hills stables County Durham in the summer of 2016. The facilities at Howe Hills are fantastic and include 3 gallops; All Weather, grass and a carpet fibre one which allows her to cater for every horse and cope with every element of weather that is thrown at them. There’s also a full size Indoor School with state of the art Easy Fix Hurdles plus a newly surfaced enclosed lunging ring which gives her fantastic scope for training and teaching horses in her care. The welfare of her horses has always been important to Becky and she now has at her disposal 48 Loddon Stables (American Barn Style), 3 Indoor Horse Walkers, 2 Solariums a Full Equine Spa, a Treadmill and an all important Weighing Machine to ensure each horse gets the care and attention they need. Staff wise Becky has assembled a team that are second to none and each of them are playing a pivotal role in the success the team are having. With the yard being a canter away from Sedgefield racecourse and with easy access to the A1 motorway you can see why its the ideal place to train from.

Scorpion x Skatey Kate
Our latest addition to the Mount Racing Club is this striking individual who is beautifully bred being by the Group1 winning Sire Scorpion. He was purchased at the prestigious Land Rover sales in Ireland and has settled in nicely at Rebecca Menzies yard and we couldn’t be more pleased with him. His Sire Scorpion is being described by the Racing Post as being one of the best young sires of National Hunt horses for some time and we certainly couldn’t put anyone off him. A really exciting prospect for the future.
If anyone would like to see Strike Fear over at Rebecca Menzies yard or discuss any of the share packages we have please contact Geoff 07852 153969 or Andy 07940 202312 for more details or to arrange a visit.

A horse with a lovely action who has strengthened up well and has one heck of an engine on him. He’s had a couple of runs in Bumpers and will now be stepped up in trip and go straight into Novice Hurdles. A really smart jumping prospect for the future and a horse we couldn’t put anyone off.

Wootton Bassett x Angel Voices
A beautiful 3yo bay filly who has had just two runs to date as a 2yo where she finished 2nd on debut in a decent Maiden at Carlisle, winner was rated 76 and the 3rd won again off a mark of 79. After that she ran in a warm Maiden at Chester and despite meeting plenty of trouble in running she still managed to finish 4th behind a 75 rated Mark Johnston beaten only 3L, the seventh placed horse has since won off a mark of 69. She’s by the Group 1 winning Sire Wootton Bassett and out of the Mare Angel Voices who Karl trained to win over both 6 and 7 furlongs and has the potential to be an 80 rated filly
A gorgeous looking horse with a great temperament who has had a few months off over the winter and is now back in full training. She is a nice filly who is sure to treat her Owners to some great days out and and hopefully a visit or two to the Winners Enclosure this year.

Tamayuz x Riynaaz
A beautifully bred unraced 3yo bay filly by the Group 1 winning Sire Tamayuz and out of the Dam Riyanaaz who was an 83 rated winner over 1m1f, the 2nd Dam Riyafa was a 103 rated multiple winner over 1m4f. She has been sent over to Karl Burkes yard from Ireland for him to train this year and hopefully to win races with. She has settled in well to her new home and we can’t wait to see her on the track in our colours this year.
A well bred horse who has a touch of class about her and looks very impressive in her work at home. Hopefully she is a filly who can take her Owners to some nice courses this year and into the Winners Enclosures as well.
