We are a winning racehorse syndicate based with trainers Karl Burke and Rebecca Menzies.
We also have a range of other share packages including leasing available, we are confident that we can sort out a package to suit all budgets.
The Racing Club
10 years ago we fulfilled a life long ambition and bought a share of a racehorse, we have been involved in several horses since and quite a few of them have been winning ones. Our most memorable day was a cold October Monday when AP McCoy steered Ever Special to victory. It was our first ever winner and although it was only a selling hurdle at Leicester it felt like Cheltenham on Gold Cup day to us.
It was a feeling we have been lucky enough to repeat with horses such as Sonic Anthem, Prigsnov Dancer, Strabinios King, Sheer Fantastic, Faraway Sound, Valantino Oyster, Lord Lansing and more recently Eva Clare and Fidelma Moon, this is a feeling we look forward to experiencing many more times in the future.
Karl Burke rode his first winner for Alan Jarvis in an apprentice race at Hamilton on The Britisher. Always likely to be too heavy for the Flat he switched codes to jump racing, and went on to gain 50 winners from 750 rides. The first being Bloemfontein for M Chapman at Newton Abbot.
Karl’s career in racing took a new direction as his interests turned to training. Karl and Elaine set up a livery and pre-training yard in Newark where they broke young stock in. It was here they started training a small string of both flat and jump horses.
As the string of horses increased Karl made the decision to move to Ginge in 1990 where he enjoyed further success with horses such as Philistar and Daring Destiny winner of the Ayr Gold Cup, a Group 2 in Germany and a Group 3 in Ireland. Karl’s profile as a trainer continued to grow and in 1998 he moved to High Havens Stables on Hamilton Road in Newmarket. In 2000 Karl and his family bought Spigot Lodge in idyllic North Yorkshire. Spigot Lodge is ideally situated between the famous Middleham High and Low moor gallops, and is one of the best equipped horseracing stables in the North of England. Karl has now trained here for over eleven years and has enjoyed the biggest success of his career with Lord Shanakill won the Group 2 Mill Reef stakes at Newbury (G2) before being beaten by only a short head in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket. He then followed this up by winning a Group 1 with him in Chantilly.
Rebecca (Becky) Menzies is at the forefront of a new generation of racehorse trainers and is certainly making a name for herself since she moved to her new home at Howe Hills stables County Durham in the summer of 2016. The facilities at Howe Hills are fantastic and include 3 gallops; All Weather, grass and a carpet fibre one which allows her to cater for every horse and cope with every element of weather that is thrown at them. There’s also a full size Indoor School with state of the art Easy Fix Hurdles plus a newly surfaced enclosed lunging ring which gives her fantastic scope for training and teaching horses in her care. The welfare of her horses has always been important to Becky and she now has at her disposal 48 Loddon Stables (American Barn Style), 3 Indoor Horse Walkers, 2 Solariums a Full Equine Spa, a Treadmill and an all important Weighing Machine to ensure each horse gets the care and attention they need. Staff wise Becky has assembled a team that are second to none and each of them are playing a pivotal role in the success the team are having. With the yard being a canter away from Sedgefield racecourse and with easy access to the A1 motorway you can see why its the ideal place to train from.

Beneficial x Terre D’Orient
We are very pleased to announce the arrival of this mightily impressive looking 8yo mare into the Mount Racing Club who was formerly trained by Kim Bailey and has been snapped up for us by Rebecca Menzies at the sales. She is lightly raced and has won a Point to Point over 3m and a Bumper over 2m where she beat a well regarded horse from Ruth Jefferson’s called Kelka who is now rated 130. Since then she has raced four times over Hurdles placing in three of them and three times over fences placing once. She currently has a handicap mark of 110 and is fit and ready to run, so if you’re a National Hunt fan then this is the ideal horse to get involved with as she should treat her Owners to some cracking days out with her.
If anyone would like to see ‘Champers’ over at Rebecca Menzies yard or discuss any of the share packages we have in her, then please contact Geoff 07852 153969 or Andy 07940 202312 for more details or to arrange a visit.
An ideal horse for the first time Owner who wants to try their hand at Ownership. This lightly raced but very impressive looking horse should provide her Owners with some fun National Hunt days out.

Tamayuz x Riynaaz
A beautifully bred filly who was a revelation for us last year racing 11 times and winning and placing in 8 of them. She rounded off the season by becoming our first ever runner in a Listed race when she put in a great display at Lingfield beaten by only 4L by a 107 rated horse from the William Haggas yard. We’ve took Rinaria on a lease deal again this year and we’re hoping that she can carry on where she left off last season and treat her Owners to some great days out as well as plenty of visits into the Winners Enclosure as well.
A well bred horse who has a touch of class about her and a great winning attitude as well, it’s a real pleasure to have her on board with us again.
George Vancouver x Sienna Bella
A beautiful filly out of the Group 1 winning Sire George Vancouver who won the Breeders Cup Turf over a mile for Aidan O’Brien. The Dam Sienna Bella was unraced but has already produced a 2yo winner over a mile and is very well related to some useful types. The second Dam Kadance Ville was a Listed and a Group 3 winner over 1m2f and there’s plenty more Black Type in the bloodline. Pleased to say that our filly has settled in well up at Spigot Lodge and Karl is really pleased with the work she has done so far. We will know more over the next couple of months as to where we stand with her regards her debut but she definitely won’t be far off running and we can’t wait to see her on the track.
A beautiful filly who is a really nice mover with a lovely action, if she goes half as well as she looks her lucky Owners should be in for some cracking days out with her.
